A rapturous applause met us as we strolled powerfully through the officials entrance at Guiseley AFC’s ground on Saturday. Well… sort of, let me think… which facts are true… we strolled in through the official’s entrance of the ground, but there was certainly no applause. Mainly as the only people who were there this early were the players who were warming up on the pitch and some of the other officials / drunks.
Let me give you a little more information on what is going on… simply myself and Mr Jakkychamp from Alcopop were at Guiseley AFC’s FA CUP 2nd Qualifying round game against local rivals Garforth Town FC. This is fine, the only problem is that when I say local, I mean local to each other and bloody miles away from where we live. Leeds to be exact… so after the 4 hours drive from Oxford we had arrived in much need of a cider shaped reward.
We met up with some ace locals, more accurately Luke, Stuart, Aidan and David, who had come along for the game. So, quick beer and it was kick off time.
Guiseley got off to a flying start and went 2 up, Garforth got one back luckily before half time. The second half was all Garforth, who got a late equaliser after Guiseley had their striker controversially sent off. It finished 2-2 and this meant replay, which was coincidentally held last night, Guiseley dominated and went through 3-1.
All cheer for Guiseley AFC in the third qualifying round at home against Sheffield, wish I could go up for it now!

Again, a post which I potentially promised not to post like this again for 6 months, well I lasted 2 since my last update. Anyway, an update on why I’ve been so MIA recently and not updating my blog / reading my feeds / spamming on Twitter, Jaiku, Friendfeed etc.
There are three simple reasons for this, in chronological order:
1) A lot of my posting is done through Nokia Lifeblog direct from my N95 8GB. To make this work on WordPress you have to add a wonderful script which PhoneBoy wrote. I have recently upgraded my WordPress version to 2.6, and the script no longer worked properly, all the images were rendered at the wrong size and looked strange so had to stop posting until my PHP expert buddy takes a look for me.
2) I have moved house, and with a busy work schedule have been unable to do much whilst at work. BT are being slow in installing our Broadband, so looks like I wont be back fully online until Friday. That’s not long now though!
3)This is more of an update on point 1, on my image problem when posting from Lifeblog, the problem has got a little more terminal. I updated my N95 8GB firmware, to the latest V30 version and now when you click on “Post to Web”, “Send” Lifeblog crashes. Meaning that I don’t think I will ever be able to post from my mobile again. This is a great disappointment to me, I have been looking into other solutions, only thing I’ve found is Wavelog. But everything I’ve read on this says its useless? By everything I mainly mean this post by All About Symbian.
Any ideas on cures for points 1 / 3 would be hugely appreciated. Otherwise, thanks for your patients and hope you continue to read whatever rubbish I put up.

You know those days, when all you want to do is run away and hide from certain things, be it people, work, a certain situation, it only takes something very simple to pull you away from this feeling. Today has been one of those days, everything piling up, expectations growing, accomplishments diminishing, planning out the window, brilliant. Who would have thought that a company, who I have had no dealing with in the past, would be able to bring me out of this slump, temporarily at least.

It’s about time I started actually writing about stuff again rather than just lifeblog posting, which is of course now broken, looks like lots of writing ahead.
Good old (haha) Whatleydude has been at the posting again, this time, on the SpinVox blog running through his Hierarchy of Communication. Basically the order in which communication is responded to, absorbed, read. In this day and age this isn’t as straight forward as before. I guess at a time, this was simply Phone Call or Snail Mail, now, there are many different mediums which can be used. Whatleydude covers Phone Calls, SMSs, Emails, messages from social media aka Twitter / Jaiku, and Voicemail. The main argument is the addition of SpinVox (a service which SMSs you voicemail messages you receive) which fundamentally changes the hierarchy. I think some what unsurprisingly SpinVox is a huge part of Whatley’s day, and any communication through this medium will be of importance, not using the service I am unable to really comment.
Therefore, I will answer the call for personal opinions on communication hierarchies and see where I get.

Thought I would do some statistical analysis of what’s going on in the Olympics, medal wise. Firstly, some facts, there are a total of 302 Golds available to be won at the Beijing Olympics. I am basing this all solely on Golds as there seems to be some weirdness going on with the number of Bronzes. Weirdness which I don’t understand yet.

Updated, finally, I tried to be honest…
Aug 3, 2008
I opened this site back in January of 08, at the time of writing this around 6 months has passed and there are around 300 posts, 100 non spam comments and countless spam comments. I have just gone over 3000 hits, a Google PageRank of 3 and Technorati authority of 10. For my first soiree into the blogosphere I don’t think this is too bad. There is no way I have invested as much time into the site as I would have originally liked to. The early plan to do a overhaul of the skin has constantly been put on the back burner, where I suspect it will stay for a number of months yet. Logo needs to change too, but again, its finding time when I feel creative and up for it.
Only major change recently, you may have noticed, that I have turned off the daily Twitter overview post. Partly because I got bored of it, partly because it showcased how infrequently I was actually posting and partly because it’s not fair on Jaiku! I can’t believe anyone wants these back right?
Current goals, increase post frequency and get up to PR 4/5. Oh, and of course I am still trying to overtake that other Colin Mercer, the bugger who comes ahead of me on a Google search on my name. Damn scholars!
I guess, another update in 6 months or so…

Lucky old me has got today off work, for those who know a bit about our company this is quite a rarity. Especially as I only requested it off on Monday, so thanks boss! Why am I off, well I was in London last night with some chaps and chapettes for a lovely evening in the pub, All Bar One to be more specific. And to be more specific again, it was Mobile Geeks of London IV, organised, promoted and hosted by Mr James Whatley esq. I digress, so in London last night, and I knew I was coming down to Brighton tonight anyway so got the day off and came straight down last night.
Very good idea in hindsight, means I am now sat in the pub with a cold pint of Beck’s Vier, the internet and the cricket on.
That’s about it for now, this is kind of an extended Twitter message, but worth updating my adoring readership on!

One thing which I always find good in the morning at a festival is waking up. Means I didn’t drink “too” much the night before which meant my body gave up. However, this morning, it felt like my body had given up! A quick G&T for breakfast, by quick I mean 4 quick G&Ts, sorted me right out. Food also a normal necessity in a morning, so got some of that too. Time for some bands…

Where to start when talking about Truck? So much fun, frolics, misbehaviour and did I mention fun(?) all wrapped up into a weekend.
A good change for this year was the fact they allowed us into the camp site on the Friday night. Something to do with the increased number of tickets available, the organisers felt that they would need to get people in before Saturday morning. This seems fair, rather than the normal rule where only people who have previously arranged to enter on the Friday, who were coming from far away, would be allowed in. That’s basically where the carnage started.
